I’m <a class=\"article-inline-link\" href=\"https://www.mentalhealth.com/people/patrick-nagle\">Patrick Nagle</a>, the founder of MentalHealth.com. Today, I’d like to share the journey that brought me here, what we’re building at MentalHealth.com, and the vision guiding our future.</p>\n<p>Over the past two decades, I've founded and invested in dozens of consumer internet companies that have helped millions of people. I’m best known for creating <a class=\"article-inline-link\" href=\"https://www.ratemyprofessors.com?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=libra&amp;utm_content=external_resource&amp;utm_id=site-blog-future-of-mental-health&amp;utm_source=mentalhealth.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">RateMyProfessors.com</a> and, more recently, <a class=\"article-inline-link\" href=\"https://www.mentalhealth.com/\">MentalHealth.com</a>.</p>\n<p>One lesson I've come to value is open communication. By sharing who we are, what we stand for, and how we operate, MentalHealth.com gains fresh perspectives and meaningful insights. Most importantly, transparency builds trust, the foundation of all relationships.</p>\n<p>Several years ago, after recovering from <a class=\"article-inline-link\" href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzodiazepine_dependence?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=libra&amp;utm_content=external_resource&amp;utm_id=site-blog-future-of-mental-health&amp;utm_source=mentalhealth.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">benzodiazepine dependence</a>, I committed myself to helping people facing <a class=\"article-inline-link\" href=\"https://www.mentalhealth.com/library/mental-health\">mental health</a> and <a class=\"article-inline-link\" href=\"https://www.mentalhealth.com/library/substance-use-disorders\">substance use challenges</a>. To this day, that commitment guides my work.</p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img alt=\"Painting\" class=\"wp-image-3831\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https://www.mentalhealth.com/assets/wordpress/3831.jpeg\"/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Where Do We Come From? These efforts led to the successful sale of Rehab.com and the acquisition of MentalHealth.com.</p>\n<p>As a team, we recognize mental health as one of the world's largest and fastest-growing healthcare sectors. Through mental health education, diagnostics, and care management, we make mental health care more understandable, actionable, and human.</p>\n<p>Think about how we navigate the world today. We use platforms like Google, Facebook, and Amazon to access knowledge, build connections, and discover products. In nearly every area of life, from managing our finances to buying a home, we rely on technology to improve our lives.</p>\n<p>Yet mental health care lags behind. <a class=\"article-inline-link\" href=\"https://www.mentalhealth.com/blog/dr-jesse-hanson-mental-health\" id=\"25\" type=\"blog\">An outdated model</a>, combined with misaligned incentives and fragmented technology, creates barriers to access, increases costs, and leaves people to navigate care on their own.
