With a passion for culturally sensitive care and a dedication to serving marginalized communities, Dr. Melody Montano brings over 13 years of experience to her practice as a clinical psychologist. Her journey in mental health has been shaped by a deep commitment to social justice and diversity, culminating in her recent Ph.D. from Fielding Graduate University.
Dr. Montano's expertise lies in working with children and families, particularly within the juvenile justice system. Since July 2022, she has been applying her skills at the Travis County Juvenile Probation Department, where she completed an American Psychological Association-approved residency. This experience has honed her abilities in providing psychological evaluations, group therapy, individual counseling, and family therapy for justice-involved youth.
Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Montano embraces her bilingualism to better serve Spanish-speaking and Latinx populations, ensuring that language is never a barrier to quality mental health care. Her professional background also includes valuable experience in residential facilities, where she focused on the psychological assessment of adolescents with serious mental illness.
Dr. Montano's approach combines rigorous academic training with real-world experience, allowing her to empower clients on their path to healing and growth. She is particularly adept at navigating the complex intersections of mental health, cultural identity, and social justice issues.
When not working, Dr. Montano maintains a balanced life by working out, spending quality time with her son and husband, and indulging her love for libraries. This personal dedication to well-being and continuous learning informs her holistic approach to mental health care.
