Richard Goulding

Richard Goulding, MD, is a physician and one of the founding members of Waterstone Counseling Centers, bringing extensive experience in substance abuse treatment and mental health care. He specializes in medication-assisted treatment (MAT) as a key component of whole-person outpatient care.

He treats substance abuse, mood disorders, anxiety, trauma (PTSD), personality disorders, and marital problems, and he also works with adolescents. He uses Person-Centered Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, is trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and incorporates holistic and healing-centered techniques to tailor treatment to each client’s needs.

As part of Waterstone, Dr. Goulding provides highly individualized, collaborative, and comprehensive outpatient care across Central, Coastal, and Southern Connecticut. He is committed to providing accessible, compassionate care in emotionally nourishing spaces where clients feel respected and empowered on their journey to recovery.
