Betsy Atkins

Betsy Atkins, LCSW, CFT-I, is the Director of Play Therapies at Coastal Wellness & Counseling. Known to families as “Ms. Betsy,” she is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor™ with over 20 years of experience supporting children and families in Alaska. Betsy specializes in Filial Play Therapy and is a nationally recognized Certified Filial Therapist Instructor. Her approach is child-centered and prescriptive, drawing from play therapy, sand tray, CBT-based play therapy, mindfulness, and family systems to meet each child and family’s unique needs. In addition to providing individual and group therapy for children, Betsy is dedicated to training and supervising future play therapists. As the current President of the Alaska Association for Play Therapy, she is passionate about advancing play therapy in her community.
