About
Change is possible, regardless of one's history – this is the cornerstone of Cherie Smith's therapeutic approach. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and EMDR specialist, Cherie brings a unique perspective to her role as Director Clinician at All Seasons Counseling, LLC. Her philosophy centers on the belief that understanding one's life story is key to personal transformation, emphasizing the importance of internal awareness as a catalyst for healing and growth.
Cherie's diverse professional background has shaped her holistic approach to therapy. From 2009 to 2010, she worked with at-risk adolescents, developing strong therapeutic relationships and implementing varied therapeutic techniques. This experience honed her understanding of the challenges facing today's youth. Her career then took her into the prison system, where she served as a Mental Health Coordinator from 2011 to 2013. During this time, Cherie provided both individual and group therapy, addressing complex issues such as substance abuse and multilayer trauma. This work deepened her appreciation for each individual's unique cultural background, spiritual beliefs, and worldview.
With a foundation in biology, earning her Bachelor of Arts from Metropolitan State College of Denver in 2003, Cherie's path to counseling was influenced by her faith and personal experiences. She completed her Master of Arts in Counseling at Colorado Christian University in Lakewood, Colorado, in May 2010, and obtained her Professional Counselor Licensure in May 2012. Cherie's expertise in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy sets her apart. As a trained EMDR professional and Full Member of EMDRIA, she is passionate about the process and outcomes of this accelerated form of therapy.
At All Seasons Counseling, LLC, Cherie offers a range of services, including EMDR therapy for trauma and substance abuse treatment. The practice is a Colorado Licensed Substance Use Treatment site, providing Court Ordered DUI Classes with various levels of education and therapy tracks. Cherie's approach to EMDR is both compassionate and informative, emphasizing that while the process may initially seem overwhelming, it is neither physically harmful nor painful, and clients maintain control throughout the sessions.
Cherie Smith's practice embodies a commitment to honoring each client's unique journey. She welcomes the responsibility of guiding individuals through their process of change, advocating for hope and the possibility of transformation. Whether working with adolescents, adults struggling with substance abuse, or those dealing with complex trauma, Cherie brings a wealth of experience, a compassionate approach, and a dedication to facilitating meaningful change in her clients' lives.
