As a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and certified Sex Therapist, Dr. Johnson brings over a decade of experience to his practice at the Ogden Center for Change, where he skillfully addresses a wide range of mental health challenges.

Dr. Johnson's journey in psychology began with his doctoral studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he earned his Ph.D. in 2010. His commitment to understanding and treating trauma led him to complete a postdoctoral residency at the prestigious National Center for PTSD, further honing his expertise in this critical area. Recognizing the intricate connection between trauma and sexual well-being, Dr. Johnson pursued additional specialization, completing a certificate in sex therapy from the University of Michigan in 2024.

At the core of Dr. Johnson's practice is a dedication to promoting hope and healing for individuals and couples grappling with complex mental health issues. His areas of expertise span a broad spectrum, including the treatment of PTSD, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and substance use problems. Dr. Johnson is particularly adept at working with veterans, first responders, and survivors of sexual or physical assault, applying evidence-based treatments such as Written Exposure Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, and Cognitive Processing Therapy.

In his role as a sex therapist, Dr. Johnson addresses a variety of sexual health challenges, including low sexual desire, arousal difficulties, sexual pain, and out-of-control sexual behavior. He employs a range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and specialized techniques like sensate focus, always tailoring his methods to the unique needs of each client.

Dr. Johnson's diverse experience, including work in Veterans Affairs Healthcare, community mental health, and wilderness and residential therapy, informs his holistic approach to mental health care.
