With over five decades of experience in psychology and behavior analysis, Dr. David Roll stands as a pillar in the field of developmental disabilities and autism treatment. As the Clinical Advisor Emeritus at Behavioral Intervention Psychological Services (BIPS), Dr. Roll's career exemplifies a commitment to improving lives through ethical and effective behavioral interventions.

Dr. Roll's journey in psychology began with his Ph.D. from Florida State University in 1969. His academic career flourished at LIU Post, where he served as Professor Emeritus, Director of Clinical Training, and Coordinator of the Developmental Disabilities Concentration in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program. This blend of academic rigor and practical application has been a hallmark of his approach throughout his career.

In the realm of applied behavior analysis, Dr. Roll has been a trailblazer. He was a founder of the New York State Association for Behavior Analysis (NYSABA) and served two terms as its president. His leadership extended to national organizations, including a role on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for the Association of Professional Behavior Analysts. As Editor of the APBA Reporter, he contributed to the dissemination of crucial information in the field.

Dr. Roll's expertise has been sought after by numerous agencies serving individuals with developmental disabilities. His consultancy roles with organizations such as the Young Adult Institute/National Center for People with Disabilities and the Association for Children and Adults with Learning and Developmental Disabilities have allowed him to impact the lives of countless individuals and families.

At BIPS, Dr. Roll served as President from 2011 to 2015 and Clinical Advisor until his retirement in September 2022. His collaborative work with Dr. Kim Shamoun, particularly in developing strategic planning and improving case review processes, has left an indelible mark on the organization. Dr. Roll's approach to retirement at 79 reflects his commitment to ethical practice and his desire to ensure the continuation of quality services at BIPS.

Throughout his career, Dr. Roll has been a prolific contributor to the field, publishing articles, supervising dissertations, and presenting at numerous conferences on the applications of behavior analysis for people with developmental disabilities and their families. His work has consistently emphasized a humanitarian approach to behavioral treatment, focusing on ethical practices and effective interventions.
