Elizabeth Kennedy

With a diverse background spanning corporate management, outreach work, and mental health counseling, Elizabeth Kennedy brings a wealth of experience to her psychotherapy practice in Santa Maria, California. Her journey to becoming a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) is marked by a passion for helping others and a commitment to understanding the complexities of human struggles.

Elizabeth's therapeutic approach is informed by her varied professional experiences, including her work as a grief counselor and medical social worker in a level 1 trauma hospital. She has developed expertise in supporting clients through life transitions, adjustments, and new challenges. Her practice focuses on working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, anger, trauma, PTSD, and caregiver burnout. Additionally, she offers support to those living with someone with mental illness.

As a member of the Central Coast Carl Jung Society, Elizabeth incorporates Jungian analysis into her practice, exploring dreams and the process of individuation - the inner journey towards self-realization and wholeness. She is also a fully trained EMDR therapist, currently working towards certification, which adds another valuable tool to her therapeutic repertoire.

Elizabeth's commitment to ongoing learning and growth is evident in her diverse educational background. After initially studying business, she returned to college to earn a BA in Psychology with an emphasis in Religious Studies. She later obtained a Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, specializing in working with older adults and developing a particular empathy for caregivers.

In her approach to therapy, Elizabeth strives to create a supportive environment where clients can explore their inner worlds and work towards personal growth. She believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship to facilitate healing and transformation, drawing on her rich life experiences and professional training to guide clients on their journey towards well-being.
