About
Confronting fear head-on is at the heart of Dr. Grant Holland's approach to therapy. As a Clinical Psychologist and Director at Dallas CBT, Dr. Holland specializes in guiding children, adolescents, and adults through the challenging terrain of anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders. His therapeutic focus is rooted in evidence-based practices, with a particular emphasis on exposure therapy and cognitive-behavioral techniques.
Dr. Holland's expertise lies in treating a wide range of anxiety-related conditions, including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Social Anxiety, Health Anxiety, Phobias, Panic Disorder, and generalized anxiety. His approach is multifaceted, combining strategies to confront feared situations, enhance coping skills, reduce avoidance behaviors, and ultimately guide clients towards recovery and maintenance of their progress.
With a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Southern Methodist University and a bachelor's in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Holland's academic foundation is robust. His training at SMU provided him the opportunity to work alongside leading researchers in OCD and anxiety, further honing his expertise. Dr. Holland's commitment to specialized care is evident in his certification in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for treating OCD and related disorders, obtained through The International OCD Foundation.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Holland has made significant contributions to the field of psychology through teaching and training. He has instructed graduate students in cognitive behavioral therapy at both SMU and UT Southwestern, even receiving a teaching excellence award for a CBT course at the latter institution. His clinical experience spans various settings, including SMU's Anxiety Research & Treatment Program, Children's Medical Center, and UC Davis' Children's Hospital.
Dr. Holland's journey in working with young people began early, teaching swimming lessons at the age of 15. This experience laid the groundwork for his current practice, where he skillfully navigates the unique challenges faced by children and adolescents struggling with anxiety and OCD. His approach is not just about treating symptoms, but about empowering young people to face their fears and develop resilience.
In his personal life, Dr. Holland balances his professional commitments with family life, spending quality time with his art-loving elementary school daughter and his partner, a neuroscientist engaged in postdoctoral research. This personal insight into child development and academic pursuits adds depth to his understanding of the diverse needs of his clients.
