Josie Heyano

Josie Heyano, LMSW, is a Deg Xinag Athabascan woman. She has several years of experience providing clinical mental health services, systems navigation, and advocacy for youth experiencing homelessness, exploitation, and human trafficking in Alaska. She earned her undergraduate degree in Social Work from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and her Master of Social Work from the University of Kentucky.

Josie is deeply passionate about serving her community and believes in the power of human connection. Her therapeutic approach is humanistic and person-centered, emphasizing each client’s autonomy, potential, and path toward self-discovery. She also integrates culture, ceremony, and community into the healing process, helping clients not only on their personal journey but also in their relationships with the world around them. With training in Somatic Experiencing, Josie supports clients in reconnecting the mind and body, increasing awareness of internal experiences, and releasing trauma stored within.
