Justin Olsen
CMHC • Clinical Mental Health Counselor
About
With over 11 years of experience as a mental health counselor, Justin Olsen, CMHC, brings a wealth of expertise to his practice, particularly in supporting first responders and their families. His unique perspective, partly informed by his wife's 17-year career as a deputy for the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department, allows him to offer specialized care to those who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving the public.
Justin's educational background includes a bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Utah and a master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Phoenix. This solid academic foundation, combined with his extensive practical experience, has equipped him to work effectively with a diverse range of clients and issues.
Specializing in stress, depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, substance abuse, and couples' issues, Justin employs a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches. He has received extensive training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Mind Shield, and Gottman couple's therapy, allowing him to tailor his approach to each client's unique needs. His work with first responders is particularly noteworthy, as he has conducted training for multiple agencies and met with hundreds of first responders and their families over the years.
Justin's approach to therapy is rooted in his desire to help clients regain peace and happiness, especially those who have given so much to ensure public safety. He creates a supportive environment where clients can work through their challenges and develop effective coping strategies. His experience with both individuals and couples allows him to address a wide range of interpersonal and personal issues.
When not in the office, Justin maintains an active lifestyle that includes exercising, lifting weights, running triathlons, and playing sports. He also values spending quality time with his wife and daughters. This balance in his personal life contributes to his holistic understanding of well-being, which he brings to his therapeutic practice.
