Leanne Thompson
M.A., LPCC • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor
About
Collaborative care and client empowerment are at the heart of Leanne Thompson's therapeutic approach. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Leanne believes in diminishing the notion of a "power differential" in therapy, recognizing that the rapport and trust between client and therapist are vital components of successful treatment.
Leanne earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walsh University in 2021, following a Bachelor of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Cleveland State University in 2017. During her graduate studies, she demonstrated leadership as Co-President of Walsh University's chapter of Chi Sigma Iota - Alpha Mu, an honors society recognizing excellence in counseling services.
With expertise in treating a wide range of presenting problems, Leanne works with clients ages 9 and up. Her clinical treatment services encompass depressive and mood disorders, trauma and stressor-related issues, and a variety of mild to severe problems. Leanne offers individual counseling, couples and family counseling, and group therapy. Additionally, she brings specialized training in substance use and chemical dependency treatment, as well as behavioral addiction issues.
Leanne is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, a specialized technique particularly effective for processing traumatic experiences. This diverse skill set allows her to tailor treatment approaches to each client's unique needs and circumstances.
Beyond the therapy room, Leanne is committed to advocacy and societal betterment. She extends her passion for client care into broader efforts aimed at improving mental health awareness and access. Recognizing the importance of flexibility in today's world, Leanne offers therapy services through telehealth, in-person, and hybrid options to best accommodate her clients' needs.
Leanne's approach to therapy is rooted in collaboration and mutual respect. She strives to create a supportive environment where clients feel empowered to explore their challenges, develop new coping strategies, and work towards their personal goals. With Leanne, clients can expect a therapist who is not only professionally skilled but also deeply committed to their wellbeing and growth.
