Melissa Weinstein
Graduate Level Intern
About
Creating a safe haven for young minds to explore their inner worlds, Melissa Weinstein brings a fresh perspective to child and teen counseling as a graduate level intern at Wise Family Wellness. Currently pursuing her master's in clinical mental health counseling at The Chicago School in Washington, D.C., Melissa is driven by a passion for helping children and adolescents navigate the complexities of their daily lives.
Melissa's approach centers on providing a judgment-free environment where her young clients can freely discuss their stressors and challenges. She believes in the power of creating a secure space that allows children and teens to develop the skills necessary to express their inner thoughts and feelings effectively. This foundation of trust and openness is key to her therapeutic process, enabling her clients to feel truly seen and heard.
Prior to her graduate studies, Melissa earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from George Mason University. Her academic background is complemented by hands-on experience as an assistant teacher at a Montessori school, where she worked with children ranging from 18 months to 12 years old. This experience honed her ability to foster real-world skills and nurture a love for learning in young minds, skills she now applies in her counseling practice.
Melissa's personal interests, including baking, singing various genres of music, and embroidery, reflect her creative spirit – a quality that undoubtedly enhances her therapeutic approach. Her love for attending concerts, visiting amusement parks, and reading new books showcases her ability to connect with the diverse interests of her young clients. As an avid fan of Harry Potter, Disney, and Taylor Swift, Melissa possesses a unique ability to relate to the cultural touchstones that often resonate with children and teens.
At Wise Family Wellness, Melissa is dedicated to empowering young individuals to understand and express their emotions, develop coping strategies, and build resilience in the face of life's challenges. Her commitment to creating a supportive, engaging, and growth-oriented environment makes her an invaluable asset to children and teens seeking guidance and understanding.
