Andrew Olson
LPC • Licensed Professional Counselor
About
Life's seasons can be as unpredictable as Michigan's weather, and Andrew Olson, LPC, understands this better than most. As a born and raised Michigander, Andrew brings a unique perspective to his counseling practice, recognizing that everyone experiences seasons of life that can be overwhelming to navigate alone.
Andrew's passion lies in assisting people to regain their happiness and sense of control over their own lives. He creates an honest and judgment-free environment where clients can explore their challenges, be it anxiety, depression, trauma, or unexpected hardship. With a Master's in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University, Andrew has honed his skills across various therapeutic settings, including private practice, community mental health emergencies, and inpatient psychiatric services.
This diverse experience has equipped Andrew to address a multitude of concerns in pursuit of his clients' wellness goals. His approach is rooted in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, where he collaborates with patients to explore the uniquely personal thoughts and behaviors contributing to their distress. Together, they co-author a plan to transform these patterns into more realistic and healthy forms. Andrew also incorporates elements of Existential Therapy to tackle deeper challenges that affect us all, such as grief, loss, and the sometimes difficult task of crafting meaning in our singular lives.
Andrew's clinical experience spans multiple populations, allowing him to work effectively with a diverse clientele. He has enjoyed assisting members of the LGBTQ+ community, adults, teenagers, men, and women. His philosophy is simple yet profound: regardless of where you land in the world of labels, you deserve positive mental health and to work with someone who will meet you where you are. Andrew is committed to helping his clients get where they want to be, without wasting any time having to be anyone but themselves.
Currently, Andrew is not accepting new patients. However, when his practice reopens to new clients, he will be available for both in-person sessions at the Downtown location and via Telehealth. He offers flexible scheduling options, including early morning, evening, and weekend appointments to accommodate various lifestyles. Andrew works with clients aged 14-60, ensuring a broad range of individuals can benefit from his expertise and compassionate approach to mental health care.
