Audrey LeMasters
MSW, LCSW, Ph.D. • Licensed Clinical Social Worker
About
With over three decades of dedicated service in the field of social work, Audrey LeMasters, MSW, LCSW, Ph.D., brings a wealth of experience and a unique blend of academic and clinical expertise to her practice. Since 1994, Audrey has been a cornerstone in the Peoria area's mental health community, offering compassionate care and evidence-based treatment to a diverse clientele.
Audrey's academic journey is as impressive as it is comprehensive. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Illinois State University, with a specialized focus on cognitive and behavioral psychology. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to the University of Illinois, where she earned her Master's degree, concentrating on the child welfare system and the critical issues facing children and adolescents who have experienced trauma from abuse and neglect. In 2009, Audrey reached the pinnacle of her formal education, completing her Ph.D. in Academic Psychology, further solidifying her expertise in the field.
The breadth of Audrey's clinical experience is remarkable. Her career began in the Illinois child welfare system, where she worked intensively with children in placement who exhibited severe emotional and behavioral issues. This foundational experience shaped her approach to trauma-informed care and child psychology. After a decade in this challenging field, Audrey transitioned to the role of clinical coordinator for the OSF Partial Hospitalization Program. In this capacity, she not only provided clinical supervision to staff but also offered direct clinical services to adults at risk of hospitalization, particularly those suffering from mood and anxiety disorders.
Audrey's commitment to serving diverse populations is evident in her work history. From 2002 to 2010, she dedicated part of her practice to the Heart of Illinois HIV/AIDS clinic at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Here, she not only provided essential services to clients but also supervised Social Work students, contributing to the development of the next generation of mental health professionals.
Today, as the founder of Edge Counseling & Wellness, Audrey continues to offer her expertise to a wide range of clients. Her practice welcomes adults, families, couples, and children, providing both individual and group therapy options. Audrey's approach is holistic and tailored, drawing from her extensive background to address a variety of mental health issues with skill and sensitivity.
Audrey's philosophy centers on the belief that mental health is as crucial as physical health and deserves equal attention and respect. She understands that seeking help for mental health issues requires great strength, and she honors this courage by providing a safe, non-judgmental space for healing. Whether clients are grappling with mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, or unspecified feelings of being "off," Audrey is committed to listening attentively and collaboratively developing strategies to improve their outlook and situation.
For those seeking a therapist with a rich tapestry of experience, a solid academic foundation, and a compassionate approach to mental health care, Audrey LeMasters stands ready to help. Her practice is not just about treatment; it's about empowerment, understanding, and fostering resilience in the face of life's challenges.
