Dr. Austin Simpson brings a unique blend of neuropsychological expertise and compassionate psychotherapy to his practice, creating a warm and nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore their deepest concerns. With a foundation in mindfulness, neuroscience, and cognitive-behavioral therapies, Dr. Simpson tailors his approach to each individual's background and presenting issues, fostering self-compassion and flexibility in his clients.

Dr. Simpson earned both his Masters and Doctorate in clinical psychology from Pacific University in Oregon, specializing in neuropsychological assessment. This distinctive background allows him to bring a deep understanding of brain-behavior relationships to his therapeutic work. While his training emphasized assessment, Dr. Simpson discovered a profound passion for psychotherapy, working with individuals and couples across a wide spectrum of mental health conditions.

Throughout his career, Dr. Simpson has honed his skills in treating trauma, depression, anxiety, life stress, brain injury, and social/relationship issues. His diverse experience includes training in community mental health, college counseling, and VA medical centers, providing him with a broad perspective on mental health care. Currently, Dr. Simpson is furthering his expertise as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Utah, focusing on neuropsychological assessment.

Dr. Simpson's therapeutic approach draws from several evidence-based modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). He stays attuned to the latest research in mental health, ensuring his clients benefit from the most current and effective treatments available. Dr. Simpson's goal is to cultivate self-compassion and flexibility in his clients, developing actionable skills to address their specific concerns.

Beyond his professional life, Dr. Simpson finds balance and rejuvenation in outdoor activities. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, particularly engaging in adventures like traveling, camping, and various water sports such as snowboarding, paddle boarding, and wakeboarding. This passion for the outdoors not only contributes to his own well-being but also informs his holistic approach to mental health, recognizing the importance of lifestyle factors in overall wellness.
