About

Creating a safe and validating space for all client presentations is of utmost importance to Carolyn Brodie, MS, NCC, a therapist dedicated to empowering women and LGBTQIA+ clients aged 16 and above. With a specialized focus on Eating Disorders (including Anorexia, Bulimia, ARFID, OSFED, and Binge Eating Disorder) and Anxiety diagnoses, Carolyn brings an empathetic and eclectic therapeutic approach to her practice.

Carolyn's therapeutic style is rooted in person-centered talk therapy, drawing from various evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), CBT-E, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She also incorporates feminist and mindfulness practices, creating a holistic approach tailored to each client's unique needs. Her primary goal is to validate and empower clients to live authentic and meaningful lives, viewing healing and growth as a lifelong practice.

As a member of The Association for Size Diversity and Health (ASDAH), Carolyn's practice is informed by the principles of Health at Every Size and body neutrality. This perspective allows her to support clients in challenging diet culture and Euro-centric metrics of health and beauty, developing and implementing boundaries, and embracing rest as a radical act of self-love. Carolyn guides her clients in exploring what health—both physical and mental—means to them personally, fostering a journey of self-discovery and empowerment.

Clients working with Carolyn can expect a therapeutic environment that supports self-exploration and facilitates improved relationships with themselves and others. Her approach encourages clients to confront and challenge societal norms, develop healthier perspectives on body image and self-worth, and learn to actualize their own definitions of health and well-being. Carolyn offers both in-person and virtual therapy sessions, providing flexibility to meet her clients' needs.

Beyond her professional life, Carolyn finds joy in visiting local and national parks with her partner, caring for her cats and rabbits, and maintaining connections with friends near and far. This balance of personal interests and professional dedication allows her to bring a well-rounded, compassionate approach to her therapeutic work, creating a warm and understanding environment for her clients to thrive.
