About
Blending cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic techniques, Christopher Holleran, LMFT, offers a unique approach to healing that addresses both the present challenges and underlying patterns in his clients' lives. As a co-founder of San Francisco Therapy Collective, Christopher brings a wealth of experience in helping individuals navigate trauma, mood disturbances, social challenges, and life transitions.
Christopher's journey in mental health began with a solid academic foundation. He earned his BA from New College of Florida, where he concentrated in psychology with a focus on developmental research. This early interest in human development laid the groundwork for his later specializations. He then went on to complete his MS in Clinical Psychology at San Francisco State University in 2005, further honing his skills and theoretical understanding.
Following his education, Christopher's professional path led him through diverse and enriching experiences. He started his career working with low-income families and providing school counseling services through Family Service Agency's Tenderloin Family Program. This early work gave him invaluable insights into the challenges faced by underserved communities and the importance of accessible mental health care.
Christopher's commitment to serving marginalized populations deepened during his four-year tenure at New Leaf Services. There, he dedicated himself to providing direct services to the LGBTQQI communities in San Francisco. His work spanned across multiple crucial areas, including Youth Substance Abuse, Adult Substance Abuse, and Adult Mental Health Programs. This experience not only broadened his clinical skills but also solidified his understanding of the unique mental health needs within the LGBTQQI community.
In his current practice, Christopher skillfully integrates cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic techniques. This approach allows him to help clients address immediate concerns while also exploring deeper patterns that may be contributing to their struggles. Whether working with individuals grappling with the aftermath of trauma, those experiencing mood disturbances, or clients facing social challenges and life transitions, Christopher provides a supportive and insightful therapeutic environment.
Christopher's diverse background and specialized experience make him particularly adept at helping clients navigate complex life changes and emotional landscapes. His approach is both practical and depth-oriented, offering clients tools for immediate coping while also facilitating long-term personal growth and understanding.
