About

Empowering individuals to live authentically and meaningfully is at the heart of Dana Stuefen's therapeutic approach. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Dana believes that every person, regardless of their challenges, deserves to lead a life where they are aware of and empowered by their strengths, values, and inherent dignity.

Dana specializes in working with individuals facing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, life changes, relationship issues, grief, and loss. Her expertise extends to couple's counseling and family issues, including parenting and pre- or post-natal concerns. With a background in severe and persistent mental illness, crisis intervention, substance use, and criminal behavior, Dana brings a wealth of experience to her practice.

Using a strengths-based approach, Dana helps clients explore the events that have shaped their worldview and identify the strengths and values they possess to reshape difficult thoughts and emotions. She strives to create a sacred therapeutic space where clients feel comfortable bringing their true and whole selves to each session. Dana's goal is to empower her clients to identify barriers, rediscover their core values, and let go of self-limiting beliefs.

Dana's professional experience spans both inpatient and outpatient settings, working with individuals and groups of all ages. She currently holds a full-time position as the Assistant Director of the Jail-Based Competency Restoration Program at Behavioral Consultants, Inc., further showcasing her expertise in complex mental health issues. Dana received her Master of Social Work, with a focus on mental health, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and maintains her licensure as an LCSW in the State of Wisconsin.

As a Christian, Dana values the importance of integrating spiritual beliefs and practices into therapy sessions for those who desire it. She and her husband volunteer their counsel and mentorship to ministries helping prepare couples for marriage. Dana has also been invited as a guest speaker for faith-based seminars, retreats, and podcasts, addressing topics such as prayer, community, marriage, and parenting.

Dana Stuefen understands that therapy is not one-size-fits-all. She is committed to walking alongside her clients on their journey towards a healthier, stronger self, reminding them that life's challenges were never meant to be faced alone. With Dana, clients are welcome as they are, in a space where they can work towards reclaiming their lives and living authentically.
