With more than two decades of professional experience in the behavioral health field, James Pearson, LCSW, CSAC, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role as a Clinical Supervisor at Love Psychotherapy. James's approach to therapy is rooted in the belief that the body and mind have an innate drive to heal, and his role is to support clients on their journey toward healing by utilizing their unique experiences and strengths.

James's therapeutic approach draws from a diverse toolkit that includes Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and mindfulness practices. This eclectic blend of methodologies allows him to tailor sessions to meet each client's specific needs and goals. At the core of his practice is a person-centered philosophy, where clients' concerns and needs are primary.

As a multifaceted professional, James wears many hats: therapist, speaker, educator, mentor, supervisor, lifelong student, and advocate. His extensive experience and continued dedication to learning enable him to provide comprehensive support to his clients. James is committed to creating a supportive and empathetic environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make positive changes in their lives.

James specializes in a wide range of areas, including mood disorders such as depression and anxiety, substance use struggles and disorders, identity issues, stress management, life transitions, and sex and sexuality. He is also experienced in providing outpatient therapy, psychoeducation on substance use and its treatment, and supervision of clinicians in training (APSW and LPC-IT). James is LGBTQIA+ friendly and has expertise in working with neurodivergent individuals, including those with autism and attention deficit disorders.

In his role as a Clinical Supervisor, James not only supports his clients but also guides and mentors other therapists, contributing to the growth and development of the mental health field. His commitment to ongoing learning and professional development ensures that he stays at the forefront of therapeutic practices, offering his clients the most effective and up-to-date support available.
