About

With a unique blend of spiritual and psychological expertise, Kelly Bain-Conkin brings a holistic approach to mental health counseling that addresses the mind, body, and spirit. As both a practicing psychotherapist and Clinical Director at the Samaritan Center, Kelly offers a wealth of experience and leadership to her clients and colleagues alike.

Kelly's journey in mental health counseling began in 2007, culminating in her licensure as a Mental Health Counselor in 2009. Her educational background is as diverse as her practice, holding both a Masters of Divinity from Truett Seminary and a Master of Educational Psychology from Baylor University. This combination of theological and psychological training allows her to provide spiritually-sensitive care for those who desire it, while maintaining a strong foundation in evidence-based therapeutic practices.

In her role as Clinical Director, Kelly demonstrates her commitment to excellence in mental health care by offering consultation to her colleagues and coordinating administrative functions. However, her passion truly shines in her direct work with clients. The majority of her time is dedicated to individual therapy with adults of all ages, helping them navigate life's challenges and grow towards holistic health. Kelly also co-leads a process group focused on "Growing Emotionally Mature Relationships," testament to her belief in the power of connection and interpersonal growth.

Kelly's areas of expertise are particularly noteworthy. She has extensive experience working with adults in two critical areas: all types of trauma, and developing healthy boundaries, assertiveness, and self-confidence in relationships. Her seminary training and ongoing education also equip her to incorporate spirituality and faith into the emotional healing process when appropriate for the client.

As a certified EMDR therapist and consultant-in-training, Kelly often utilizes this powerful trauma-processing technique in conjunction with the Internal Family Systems Model. This integration of methodologies showcases her commitment to providing comprehensive, tailored care that addresses the complex nature of human experiences and emotions.
