About

With a passion for guiding individuals and families through life's challenges, Kelsey Carver brings a wealth of experience and a unique perspective to her role as a licensed clinical social worker at Healing Minds. Specializing in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Family and Marriage Counseling, and Individual Therapy, Kelsey's approach is rooted in both her academic background and her diverse life experiences.

Kelsey's journey in social work began at the University of Hawaii, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in 2008. Her commitment to the field led her to pursue further education at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), where she received her Master's degree in social work in 2016. During her time at UNR, Kelsey distinguished herself through her integrative project working with first-generation students in the Upward Bound program, showcasing her dedication to empowering underserved communities.

Following her graduate studies, Kelsey's professional path took her to the VA Hospital, where she worked with houseless veterans, further honing her skills in addressing complex mental health needs. Her experience expanded to include family reunification work at Family Counseling Service, demonstrating her versatility and commitment to strengthening family bonds.

Kelsey's approach to therapy is informed not only by her academic and professional experiences but also by her time spent living abroad. For two years, she immersed herself in South Korean culture while working as an English teacher, an experience that broadened her cultural competence and ability to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds.

At Healing Minds, Kelsey employs her expertise in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, a powerful tool for helping clients manage emotions, improve relationships, and build resilience. Her specialization in Family and Marriage Counseling allows her to work with couples and families to foster better communication and understanding. Through Individual Therapy, she provides personalized support to clients navigating personal challenges and growth.

When not in the therapy room, Kelsey finds balance and joy in spending time with her two young boys, embracing the outdoors, and continually improving her yoga practice. Her love for hockey, particularly following the San Jose Sharks, adds a touch of enthusiasm to her life outside of work. These personal interests not only contribute to her own well-being but also inform her holistic approach to mental health and wellness in her practice.
