About
Maddy Buxton is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor who brings the creativity of improv and theater into the therapeutic space. Buxton works with clients seeking personal growth, particularly those with ADHD, using innovative approaches.
Buxton's journey to mental health counseling began with a B.F.A in Performing Arts from Savannah College of Art and Design. Initially pursuing improv comedy and sketch writing in Chicago and Los Angeles, her personal experiences led her to earn an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2023.
In therapy, Buxton employs a person-centered, social-constructionist approach, integrating humor, improv, and theater exercises. She uses Solution-Focused Therapy and offers group sessions with Dungeons and Dragons for therapeutic exploration. Clients can expect a safe, judgment-free space to explore personal stories and develop coping strategies.
