Markie Sterner

Markie Sterner, LMFT, is the MHSSA Clinical Supervisor at Tri-City Mental Health, leading school-based mental health services in Claremont, Pomona, and La Verne. She directs work funded by the Mental Health Student Services Act (MHSSA) grant project to expand access for youth and young adults aged 25 and under.

Her work focuses on children and youth in foster care, those who identify as LGBTQ+, and students who have faced school expulsion or suspension. Sterner emphasizes culturally relevant, coordinated supports that reach students where they are.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Sterner provides clinical oversight and supervision for the school-based program and implements early intervention, suicide prevention, drop-out prevention, and evidence-based mental health practices. She follows Tri-City's "no wrong door" philosophy and helps coordinate services delivered directly on school campuses to reduce barriers to timely access to care and support student success.
