Matthew Lachman

Passion for sex positivity and inclusivity drives Matthew Lachman's approach to therapy, making him a unique voice in the field of mental health and human sexuality. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisory Designation (LPCC-S) and Certified Sex Therapist (CST), Matthew brings a wealth of expertise to his practice at Cleveland Sex Therapy.

Matthew's journey in the mental health field has taken him across the United States, ultimately leading him back to his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. After completing two graduate programs in 2015, he found his calling in sex therapy while working at the Cleveland Clinic as a behavioral health therapist. It was during this time that Matthew discovered his deep-seated passion for feminism and sex positivity, which now form the cornerstones of his therapeutic approach.

Recognizing the need for specialized education in sex therapy, Matthew sought certification from the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, & Therapists (AASECT). This pursuit of excellence led him to open Cleveland Sex Therapy in 2019, with the mission of spreading sex positivity and inclusivity, one client at a time.

Matthew's expertise spans a wide range of areas within sex therapy, including sexual dysfunctions, kink, polyamory, and sexual compulsivity. He creates a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to explore their sexuality and challenge societal norms. His approach incorporates feminist principles, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Solution-Focused Counseling, tailoring his methods to each client's unique needs.

As a supervisor and educator, Matthew is committed to advancing the field of sex therapy. He offers supervision to clinicians focusing on sex therapy and has presented on topics such as "Sex Therapy 101 and 102: Exploring Biases and Expanding Knowledge for Mental Health Therapists" and "LGBTQ+ and Mental Health." His goal is to rid the world of sex negativity, fostering a more open and accepting society through his practice, supervision, and public speaking engagements.
