His academic pursuits led him to Indiana University, Bloomington for his undergraduate studies, followed by a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from the prestigious University of Notre Dame. Not content to rest on his laurels, Mike pursued additional mental health training at the University of Chicago and participated in the Notre Dame University Doctoral Program, continuously honing his skills to better serve his clients.
The depth of Mike's professional experience is evident in his varied career path. He began as a probation officer with the Elkhart County Court System, gaining valuable insights into the complexities of human behavior and the justice system. His path then led him to Oaklawn Psychiatric Hospital in Goshen, Indiana, where he practiced as a mental health counselor, further developing his clinical skills. In 1982, Mike co-founded Psychological and Family Consultants, where he continues to serve as President while maintaining a full-time counseling practice.
At the heart of Mike's therapeutic approach is a commitment to helping clients deal with their struggles, stresses, and life transitions. He believes in empowering individuals to experience life to the fullest, even in the face of significant challenges. His special interest in working with those facing debilitating and terminal illnesses speaks to his compassion and dedication to supporting clients through some of life's most difficult moments.
