About

In the realm of mental health therapy, a unique perspective can make all the difference. Molly Sexton, M.A., LMFT, brings just that with her training in systems theory, which allows her to look beyond the individual and examine the complexities and relationships that form the backdrop of each client's life.

Molly's approach is rooted in collaboration and empowerment. She recognizes that the client is the expert in their own life, and works alongside individuals, couples, and families to uncover unique solutions to their complex problems. This collaborative spirit is at the heart of her practice, fostering an environment where clients feel respected, heard, and understood throughout the therapeutic process.

One of the cornerstones of Molly's methodology is her focus on strengths rather than weaknesses. This positive approach elicits hope and creates space for meaningful, long-lasting, and positive change to occur. Her services span a wide range, including individual therapy, family therapy, couples therapy, discernment counseling, co-parent counseling, divorce coaching, and conciliation.

Molly's areas of expertise are diverse, reflecting her comprehensive training and experience. She works with adults and young adults (ages 18+) on issues such as anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, personal growth, and relationship issues. Her practice also extends to specialized areas like alternative relationships, gender dysphoria, LGBTQ concerns, infidelity, and sexual dysfunction.

The therapeutic approaches that most influence Molly's work include Solution Focused, Narrative, Bowenian, Cognitive Behavioral, and Systems Theory. She tailors her technique to each client's presenting problem, choosing the model most appropriate to promote growth and positive change.

Molly holds a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Mount Mercy University and a Bachelor of Science in Child, Family, and Adult Services from Iowa State University. This educational background, combined with her practical experience, allows her to bring a wealth of knowledge to her therapy sessions.

At the core of Molly's practice is her passion for being an advocate for all of her clients. She believes that individuals who enter therapy with an open mind have the capacity to gain new perspectives on their current situations, moving in a positive direction toward their goals. Whether working with individuals navigating personal challenges, couples striving to strengthen their relationships, or families seeking to improve their dynamics, Molly Sexton is committed to guiding her clients toward meaningful and lasting change.
