Ryan Buell
LPC-Associate • Licensed Professional Counselor Associate
About
From the frontlines of journalism to the healing space of therapy, Ryan Buell, LPC-Associate, brings a unique perspective to his counseling practice. Supervised by Andrea Alvarez, LPC-S, Ryan's journey into therapy was inspired by his own transformative experience overcoming addiction in 2017, igniting a passion to help others on their path to healing and self-discovery.
Ryan's therapeutic approach is a powerful blend of Adlerian therapy and Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, creating a foundation that allows clients to explore their past while developing crucial insights through the strength of social connection and a robust therapeutic alliance. This integrative method is particularly effective in addressing a wide range of concerns, including trauma, men's issues, military-related challenges, spirituality, depression, addiction, LGBTQIA+ matters, and cultural issues.
With a master's degree in clinical mental health from the University of South Carolina, earned in 2023, and a certification in play therapy, Ryan brings both academic rigor and specialized skills to his practice. His professional background is further enriched by his experience working with diverse populations, including low-income individuals, military personnel, minority groups, and LGBTQIA+ clients during his time in South Carolina.
Ryan's commitment to inclusivity and understanding is evident in his specialties, which span across various life experiences and challenges. Whether working with individuals grappling with trauma, exploring men's issues, supporting military personnel, delving into matters of spirituality, or addressing the complexities of addiction and cultural identity, Ryan offers a compassionate and informed approach tailored to each client's unique needs.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Ryan's personal interests contribute to his well-rounded approach to therapy. His love for writing, movies, hiking, and college football (cheering for both Penn State Nittany Lions and USC Gamecocks) reflects a zest for life that he brings into his therapeutic relationships. This balance of professional expertise and personal passion creates a welcoming and relatable environment for clients seeking support and growth.
