Sue Goetz
LCSW • Licensed Clinical Social Worker
About
With a compassionate approach and a wealth of experience, Sue Goetz, LCSW, brings hope and healing to individuals navigating life's challenges. Specializing in child and adolescent mental health, Sue has dedicated her career to helping teens, adults, and families find their path to well-being.
Sue's journey in mental health began on the East Coast, where she earned her graduate degree from the University at Buffalo in 2000, specializing in child and adolescent mental health. Her academic excellence was evident from the start, graduating magna cum laude from both her undergraduate studies at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania and her graduate program. Since 2000, Sue has called Sacramento home, where she has been in full-time private practice since 2008.
Drawing from her diverse background, which includes work in foster care, children's mental health, inpatient psychiatric care for adolescents, outpatient intensive programs for adults, and emergency room social work, Sue brings a comprehensive understanding to her practice. This rich tapestry of experience enables her to offer nuanced, effective support to clients of all ages.
In 2010, Sue expanded her therapeutic toolkit by completing training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). This powerful technique has proven highly effective in treating trauma, including abuse, complicated grief, bullying, and phobias. Both adolescents and adults have benefited from EMDR treatment, often seeing faster and longer-lasting therapeutic results.
Sue's approach is multifaceted, informed by various therapeutic modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Byron Katie's "The Work", Elaine Aron's Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) framework, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This diverse toolkit allows her to tailor her approach to each client's unique needs, fostering a safe, judgment-free environment where healing can flourish.
With offices in midtown Sacramento and El Dorado Hills, Sue is well-positioned to serve the community she loves. Her practice is LGBTQ friendly, reflecting her commitment to inclusivity and understanding. Whether you're a teen grappling with the challenges of adolescence, an adult seeking to navigate life's complexities, or a family working towards harmony, Sue Goetz offers the expertise, compassion, and dedication to guide you on your journey towards healing and hope.
