About
With a compassionate approach and over a decade of experience, Whitni F. Toson, MA, LPC-S, stands at the forefront of mental health support for mothers, teens, and individuals from diverse backgrounds. As the founder of Alamo Ranch Counseling & Wellness, Whitni has dedicated her career to addressing the unique challenges faced by those navigating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, adolescent struggles, and the effects of trauma.
Whitni's journey in the mental health field began with a strong desire to make a difference in the world. This passion led her to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, followed by a Master's degree in Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio. During her graduate studies, Whitni gained valuable experience working in various settings, including a women's shelter, a residential substance abuse treatment facility, and a long-term care facility, laying a strong foundation for her diverse clinical expertise.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), Whitni employs a range of therapeutic modalities to meet her clients' needs. Her primary theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), but she also utilizes Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients process and overcome traumatic experiences. This integrative approach allows her to tailor treatment plans to each individual's unique circumstances and goals.
Whitni's specialized focus on maternal mental health, particularly in the realm of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs), sets her apart in the field. She understands the complex emotions and challenges that can arise during pregnancy and postpartum periods, offering targeted support to help mothers navigate this transformative time. Additionally, her work with teens and the BIPOC community demonstrates her commitment to providing culturally competent care and addressing the specific mental health needs of diverse populations.
Beyond her clinical work, Whitni is passionate about mentorship and professional development within the counseling field. As an approved LPC Supervisor in Texas, she offers clinical supervision to LPC-Associates, sharing her wealth of knowledge and experience to shape the next generation of mental health professionals. This commitment to education and growth extends to her practice, where she emphasizes collaboration, strong ethics, and continuous learning.
At Alamo Ranch Counseling & Wellness, clients can expect a safe, non-judgmental environment where they can explore their concerns and work towards personal growth. Whether addressing anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions, Whitni's approach is rooted in empathy, professional expertise, and a genuine desire to help individuals find peace and reach their goals.
