Abi Tesfaye

Creating a safe space for authentic self-expression is at the heart of Abi Tesfaye's therapeutic approach. As an LPC Associate at Just Mind counseling practice, Abi believes that the most effective therapeutic relationships are built on genuine acceptance, mutual trust, and compassionate accountability. She is particularly passionate about providing healing spaces for individuals who have been marginalized due to aspects of their identity such as race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation.

Abi brings valuable experience working with clients facing complex challenges, including domestic violence, sexual abuse, and complex trauma. Her intersectional lens allows her to consider the social norms, roles, and systems that impact her clients' lives. This approach makes her especially well-equipped to assist those seeking therapy for depression, anxiety, life changes, spiritual transitions and deconstruction, first and second generation cultural issues, relationship issues, and grief.

Utilizing narrative therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and attachment theory, Abi empowers her clients with tools to deconstruct harmful narratives and change behaviors that no longer serve them. Her goal is to help clients show up as their most authentic selves, fostering an environment of growth and healing.

Under the supervision of Dr. Maria Haiyasoso, PhD, LPC-S, RPT, NCC, Abi continues to refine her skills and approach, ensuring that her clients receive the highest quality of care. Her commitment to creating a safe, accepting space combined with her diverse therapeutic toolkit makes Abi a valuable resource for adults and teens seeking support and personal growth.
