Amy's therapeutic approach is rooted in the belief that it's never too late to rewrite one's story. She creates a safe haven where clients can openly share their wounds and heart needs while celebrating their unique strengths and gifts. Utilizing a diverse set of therapeutic techniques, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Emotion Focused Therapy, Amy tailors her approach to meet each client's individual needs.
With a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Richmont Graduate University, where she also earned a Certificate in Addictions, Amy brings a strong educational foundation to her practice. Her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Belhaven University further informs her understanding of human behavior and mental processes. Currently pursuing licensure in the state of Tennessee as a professional counselor, Amy is committed to ongoing professional development to best serve her clients.
Amy's personal life experiences enrich her professional practice. Married for thirty-two years and a mother of three adult children, she understands the complexities of long-term relationships and family dynamics. When not working, Amy enjoys hiking, creating healthy versions of comfort foods, entertaining family and friends, and indulging in quiet moments with a book and a cup of coffee, often accompanied by her dog. These personal interests not only contribute to her work-life balance but also inform her holistic approach to mental health and well-being.
At the core of Amy's practice is her passion for working with those who feel stuck, broken, or isolated. She teaches her clients the power of fierce self-compassion, enabling them to explore their thoughts, emotions, and actions more clearly. Through this process, Amy helps her clients move towards hope, empowering them to make positive changes in their lives and find new pathways to healing and growth.
