About
Anna Hanson, PhD, LCSW, is a Professor of Neurobiology & Social Change at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and holds a PhD in Neurocognitive Science. She has nearly two decades of psychotherapy experience and specializes in PTSD and stress-induced conditions including anxiety, depression, OCD, grief, low self-esteem, relationship issues, and binge-eating.
Dr. Hanson integrates EMDR, Brainspotting, somatics, positive psychology, motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, Jungian modalities, Intuitive Eating, body-positivity, self-compassion, and parts work (IFS) to tailor treatment to each client’s needs.
She has extensive EMDR training and multiple certifications in trauma work, neurodivergence, mindfulness, health and wellness, integrative psychotherapy, and disordered eating. As a multilingual, LGBTQ+ informed clinician with an immigrant background and NYC public school experience, she emphasizes culturally sensitive, evidence-informed care focused on addressing symptoms at their source.
