About

From overcoming personal challenges to helping others navigate life's complexities, Ashley Marder, MA, LCMHCA, NCC brings a wealth of experience and compassion to her therapeutic practice. As a therapist who believes in the power of collaboration and individualized care, Ashley creates a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can truly be themselves.

Ashley's approach to therapy is as diverse as the clients she serves. Working with individuals of all ages, couples, and families, she draws from a variety of evidence-based approaches to tailor her methods to each client's unique needs. Her toolkit includes person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness techniques, internal family systems (IFS), and EMDR. This eclectic approach allows her to address a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, addiction, PTSD, stress, conflicts, past trauma, low self-esteem, grief/loss, and marital issues.

With a master's degree in counseling from Wake Forest University, obtained in 2022, Ashley brings fresh perspectives to her practice. Her clinical experience spans addiction treatment, wilderness therapy, and mental health services, providing her with a broad understanding of various therapeutic contexts. However, it's not just her academic and professional background that informs her practice. Ashley's personal journey, including overcoming breast cancer at the age of 30 in 2016, has given her a unique perspective on life's challenges and the importance of understanding how past experiences and relationships impact current functioning.

Ashley's educational journey is as diverse as her therapeutic approach. Prior to her counseling degree, she graduated from Appalachian State University in 2008 with degrees in criminal justice and political science, as well as a minor in psychology. This multidisciplinary background enriches her understanding of human behavior and societal influences on mental health.

At the core of Ashley's practice is the belief that therapy is a collaborative process. She sees her clients as the experts of their own lives, with their goals being the focus of the therapeutic journey. Her aim is to work alongside clients to overcome obstacles and issues that are interfering with their lives, helping them to navigate tough transitions and change patterns that are no longer serving them.

For those seeking a therapist who combines professional expertise with personal insight, Ashley Marder offers a unique blend of evidence-based practices and empathetic understanding. Her approach embodies the spirit of Brené Brown's words, encouraging clients to dare greatly, show up authentically, and have the courage to be vulnerable in their journey towards growth and healing.
