Brad Akin

Brad Akin, LMFT #103280, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over a decade of experience. He earned an M.A. from John F. Kennedy University after transitioning from a successful career in high tech.

He works extensively with the LGBTQIA+ community, including couples, immigrants, teenagers, adults, seniors, and transgender and gender non-conforming clients, and addresses depression, anxiety, addiction, adoption issues, coming out, early life trauma, parenting challenges, and navigating intimate and open relationships. His practice is integrative, drawing from psychodynamic exploration, cognitive behavior modification, and narrative insight.

Brad encourages his clients to explore and understand their feelings without judgment or criticism and works collaboratively to identify how current patterns contribute to difficulties. He brings cultural awareness and sensitivity informed by fatherhood, a 28-year relationship, and civil rights activism, focusing on authentic growth rather than quick fixes.
