About

From military service to civilian practice, Candace Jules, LICSW, brings a wealth of experience to her role as a mental health professional. With a career spanning over 15 years, Candace has developed a unique approach to therapy that blends her military background with a diverse set of clinical skills, making her particularly adept at helping clients navigate life's complex challenges.

Candace's journey in mental health began in 2006 when she served as a mental health professional in the United States Navy. This experience provided her with invaluable insights into the unique stressors faced by military personnel and their families. In 2016, she transitioned to the civilian sector, broadening her scope of practice and applying her expertise to a wider range of clients.

Her educational background is rooted in general social work practices with an emphasis on Hispanic Children and Families, having earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX. This specialized focus has equipped Candace with a culturally sensitive approach to therapy, allowing her to effectively serve diverse populations.

Candace's areas of expertise are extensive, covering relationship issues, intimacy-related problems, career difficulties, coping with military life (both during and after service), children and family dynamics, crisis management, adapting to life changes, and trauma. Her commitment to being a knowledgeable and competent professional has led her to master a wide array of treatment modalities, enabling her to tailor her approach to each client's unique needs.

Among the clinical approaches in Candace's toolbox are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, and Sand Tray Play Therapy. This diverse skill set allows her to adapt her therapeutic style to best suit each client's individual needs and preferences.

At the core of Candace's practice is the belief that each client is the expert of their own story. She sees her role as a guide, helping clients uncover and leverage their inherent strengths to overcome challenges, alleviate distress, and break free from feeling "stuck". Her client-centered approach recognizes that what works for one individual may not work for another, even when facing similar diagnoses or challenges.

Candace welcomes the opportunity to be a part of her clients' healing journeys, viewing it as both a privilege and an honor. Her professional experience, combined with her adaptable therapeutic approach, positions her as a compassionate and effective ally for those seeking to improve their mental health and overall well-being.
