Carrie Christensen

Carrie Christensen, LCSW-R, LICSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Psychotherapy Privileges and has over 19 years of private practice experience. Her approach is eclectic and deeply rooted in established therapeutic traditions.

She trained at Columbia University School of Social Work and completed post‑graduate training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health. Her clinical interests include chronic illness, grief and loss, therapists in therapy, depression and anxiety, and gender-related issues, informed by Freudian thought, Attachment Theory, and Relational Theory.

She has supervisory experience at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell Medical College, and the Psychoanalytic Institute in China, and is licensed in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York. As an anti-racist practitioner, she continues educating herself about BIPOC ancestral trauma and the lived experiences of BIPOC individuals, tailoring psychotherapy to each client’s needs with cultural competence and clinical depth.
