Christina Ravenel
LPC • Licensed Professional Counselor
About
From the classrooms of first-graders to the counseling room, Christina Ravenel, LPC, brings a unique blend of educational insight and therapeutic expertise to her practice. With a deep understanding of both child development and adult mental health, Christina offers a comprehensive approach to counseling that spans generations and life experiences.
Christina's journey in mental health began with a solid academic foundation. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology from Drury University, providing her with a broad understanding of human behavior and social dynamics. Building on this, she pursued her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas A&M University-Central Texas, honing her skills in therapeutic techniques and clinical practice.
What sets Christina apart is her diverse professional background. Before fully immersing herself in counseling, she worked as a 1st grade teacher, an experience that sharpened her ability to connect with children and understand their unique perspectives. This background seamlessly translates into her current use of play therapy with young clients, allowing her to create a safe and nurturing environment for children to express themselves and work through challenges.
Christina's counseling expertise extends far beyond childhood issues. She has developed a strong focus on supporting military families, drawing from her personal experience as both an Army child and spouse. This firsthand knowledge of military culture allows her to provide empathetic and informed care to service members and their loved ones, addressing the unique stressors and transitions that come with military life.
In addition to her work with children and military families, Christina has honed her skills in substance abuse counseling and couples therapy. She employs cognitive restructuring techniques in group settings, helping clients reshape negative thought patterns and develop healthier coping mechanisms. This versatile skill set allows her to tailor her approach to each client's specific needs, whether they're struggling with addiction, relationship issues, or the complexities of military life.
Christina Ravenel's practice is a testament to her commitment to holistic mental health care. By combining her educational background, diverse counseling experience, and personal insights into military life, she offers clients a unique and comprehensive therapeutic journey. Whether working with a child through play, guiding a couple through relationship challenges, or supporting a service member in their transition to civilian life, Christina brings empathy, expertise, and a deep understanding to every session.
