About
From the stage to the counseling room, Courtney Newbery's journey to becoming a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida is as unique as her approach to therapy. With a foundation in theater and a passion for helping others find healing and hope, Courtney brings a dynamic blend of creativity and compassion to her practice.
Courtney's path to counseling began unexpectedly. After graduating from the University of Southern California with a BA in Musical Theatre and Broadcast Journalism, she felt called to a different stage. This calling led her to join the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU) in 2001, where she mentored and discipled young women through various life challenges. It was during this time that Courtney discovered her gift for helping people navigate personal growth and change.
Driven by this newfound passion, Courtney pursued her Masters in Biblical Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary, graduating in 2008. She has been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida since 2010, bringing over a decade of experience to her practice. Her professional journey has been marked by diverse experiences, including work in hospice care and community mental health settings.
Courtney specializes in grief and loss counseling, having supported individuals with terminal illnesses and their families through the complex emotions surrounding end-of-life care. Her expertise extends to treating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and panic disorders. As a gifted mediator, she has also helped clients of all ages work through challenging relationship issues, including family conflicts and parent-child relationships.
At the core of Courtney's practice is her belief in integrating faith with counseling therapy. She views God's Word as the ultimate guide to life and believes that when combined with therapeutic techniques in a safe and nurturing environment, lasting change and personal growth are achievable. This unique approach allows her to address not just the mental and emotional aspects of her clients' lives, but also their spiritual well-being.
Courtney's diverse background - from her theatrical roots to her experiences in ministry and counseling - informs her holistic approach to therapy. She understands the complexities of human experience and strives to create a supportive space where clients can explore their challenges, find their voice, and work towards healing and self-discovery. Whether you're grappling with loss, anxiety, relationship issues, or seeking personal growth, Courtney Newbery offers a compassionate, faith-integrated approach to guide you on your journey towards mental and emotional well-being.
