Deana Enebo-Short
M.A., LMHC, NCC • Licensed Mental Health Counselor
About
With a passion for guiding individuals through life's challenges, Deana Enebo-Short brings two decades of experience to her practice as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Her approach is rooted in the belief that people are inherently adaptable, capable of navigating change whether it's self-initiated, imposed by others, or necessitated by illness.
Deana's expertise spans a wide range of therapeutic modalities, with a particular focus on trauma counseling. As a trained practitioner of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), she offers specialized support for those grappling with traumatic experiences. Her background includes volunteer work at the Kitsap Sexual Assault Center, demonstrating her commitment to supporting survivors of sexual abuse.
Beyond individual therapy, Deana's skill set encompasses Critical Incident Stress Management and Debriefing (CISD). Her long-standing involvement with the Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management's Critical Incident Stress Management team underscores her ability to provide crucial support in high-stress situations.
Deana's international experience, including work with Christian relief and development teams in East Africa, informs her unique perspective on cross-cultural challenges. She remains active in preparing individuals for overseas ministry work and offers assessment and debriefing services for international mission organizations.
With a Master of Arts in Counseling from Western Seminary and additional specialized training in EMDR for both adults and children, Deana employs an eclectic treatment approach. She draws from various therapeutic models including bio-psycho-social, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal theories, client-centered, and solution-focused therapy. While her personal values are rooted in Christianity, Deana tailors her approach to meet the individual needs of each client, ensuring a personalized and effective therapeutic experience.
