With over 25 years of experience, Debra Lewis brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role as a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor. Her journey in mental health began as a crisis worker, treating seriously mentally ill individuals in collaboration with local and state psychiatric hospitals. This early experience laid the foundation for her comprehensive approach to therapy, which now encompasses a wide range of modalities and specialties.
Debra's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts from Southern Methodist University and a Master of Science in Counseling from Texas A&M Commerce. Her diverse career has spanned various settings, from crisis intervention and judicial system collaborations to inpatient and outpatient care for individuals struggling with alcohol and drug addictions. This breadth of experience has honed her skills in providing assessments, evaluations, and determining appropriate levels of care for clients in crisis.
Currently, Debra works with clients aged 17 and older, drawing from multiple therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness. Her areas of expertise are extensive, covering individual therapies for men and women, couples counseling, grief, life transitions, anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ related issues, early childhood abuse and neglect, domestic violence, personality disorders, PTSD, and self-esteem issues.
