Doris Vaughans

Doris Vaughans, Ph.D., LPC, NCC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor at the Tuscaloosa Center for Cognitive Therapy in Alabama. She holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Alabama and is a published author and recipient of the Alabama Counseling Association's Outstanding Practitioner Award.

She provides individual, couples, and family counseling and specializes in grief counseling, depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Dr. Vaughans developed the S.E.A.R.C.H. model of bereavement documented in 'Techniques of Grief Therapy' edited by Dr. Robert Neimeyer.

Her clinical path began in nursing, and the loss of her father in 1996 inspired her focus on bereavement. She teaches counseling skills and multicultural counseling at her alma mater and works from a compassionate stance to support healing.
