About

With a unique blend of international experience and specialized expertise, Dr. Ericka Wray brings a wealth of knowledge to her role as a Psychological Associate. Her journey in mental health spans over a decade, encompassing both European and American perspectives, making her particularly adept at addressing diverse cultural influences on mental well-being.

Dr. Wray's practice stands out for its focus on two distinct yet equally demanding populations: military service members and firefighters. Her significant experience in providing individual and group therapy to military personnel and their families has given her deep insights into the unique challenges faced by those in uniform. This expertise is complemented by her specialization in firefighter mental health, a focus that stems from her doctoral research and personal connection as a "fire wife."

Having earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in clinical psychology from the University of Munich, Germany, Dr. Wray gained valuable experience working with adults in inpatient and residential settings. Her educational journey continued in California, where she pursued her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at California Southern University. This blend of European and American education provides her with a broad, multicultural perspective on mental health treatment.

Dr. Wray's predoctoral internship at an acute psychiatric hospital in San Diego further honed her skills. Here, she focused on individual and group work with a diverse clientele, including children, adolescents, adults, civilians, and active-duty military service members in both inpatient and intensive outpatient programs. Her experience also extends to crisis management, having supervised the hospital's intake department and crisis help-line, where she provided triage for acute mental health and chemical dependency issues.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Wray embraces an active lifestyle that reflects her commitment to holistic well-being. She enjoys outdoor activities with her firefighter husband and two golden retrievers, including stand-up paddleboarding, swimming, and playing pickleball. Her love for travel and absorbing multi-cultural experiences aligns with her professional approach, allowing her to bring a global perspective to her practice. Fluent in German and with a working knowledge of French, Dr. Wray's linguistic skills further enhance her ability to connect with a diverse clientele.

At bareWell, Dr. Wray offers a compassionate, culturally-informed approach to therapy. Her unique background as a former professional ballet dancer, combined with her extensive mental health training and specializations, allows her to provide tailored support to individuals navigating life transitions, trauma, and the specific mental health challenges faced by first responders and military personnel.
