Heather Younts
MA, LPC • Licensed Professional Counselor
About
Trust and healing go hand in hand in the therapeutic journey, and Heather Younts, MA, LPC, understands this deeply. With her extensive experience working with pre-teens, adolescents, families, and young adults, Heather has cultivated an approach that honors the sacred space of her clients' lives. She believes in earning and nurturing trust through the therapeutic relationship, creating a foundation for profound healing work.
Heather is specially trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), a technique designed to help individuals aged 6-18 who have experienced traumatic and upsetting life events. This specialized training, combined with her broad experience across various treatment settings over the past 15 years, allows Heather to offer a comprehensive and tailored approach to each client's unique needs.
In her practice, Heather draws primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), while also integrating holistic elements that involve the mind, body, and spirit. Her diverse professional background, which includes community mental health, school-based services, psychiatric hospital work, residential treatment, alcohol and drug treatment, and private practice, informs her nuanced understanding of mental health challenges.
Heather's expertise extends to several key areas, including trauma, sexual abuse/assault, life transitions, perfectionism, self-criticism, anxiety, relationship challenges, emotional challenges, women's issues, and parenting challenges. She is also certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful technique for reducing distress related to traumatic events and weakening the hold of negative thought patterns and core beliefs.
Originally from Lexington, SC, Heather has called Greenville home since 2011. She brings not only her professional expertise but also her personal warmth to her practice, valuing the resilience and strength she observes in each of her clients. Heather's approach is summed up in her belief that no matter how dark the road seems, there is always a path forward, and she is there to help her clients navigate it.
