James Olsen

James Olsen, PhD, LMHC, SOTP, CST, DST, is a Distinguished Sex Therapist and Chief Executive Officer at Pacific Behavioral Healthcare. He specializes in treating problematic and compulsive sexual behaviors and assesses co-occurring mental health difficulties that may fuel those behaviors.

He served on the board of directors for the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (SASH) and helped develop international training standards for treating sexually compulsive behaviors. He also presents nationally on topics related to sexual health.

At Pacific Behavioral Healthcare he facilitates individual, couples, and group therapy and uses cognitive-behavioral and constructivist approaches informed by training in sexual compulsivity and complicated grief. He focuses on underlying causes to create evidence-based treatment plans that address clients’ lives and relationships.
