With a wealth of experience spanning over two decades, Dr. Janet Camp brings a compassionate and collaborative approach to her psychological practice. Specializing in anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, grief, and identity issues, Dr. Camp has honed her skills working with a diverse clientele, including young adults, adults, and older adults of all genders.
Dr. Camp's therapeutic style is grounded in creating a safe, affirming space where healing and growth can flourish. She employs a range of evidence-based interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic approaches, interpersonal strategies, and mindfulness techniques. This integrative approach allows her to tailor treatment to each client's unique needs and circumstances.
Having worked extensively in both private practice and university counseling centers, both in the United States and internationally, Dr. Camp brings a wealth of multicultural experience to her practice. Her role as Associate Director of Counseling at the University of North Carolina Wilmington from 2007-2011 further enriched her expertise in academic and young adult mental health concerns.
Dr. Camp views psychotherapy as a catalyst for personal development, fostering an environment where individuals feel understood and their perspectives are respected. She offers both brief and longer-term individual psychotherapy, with the duration of treatment informed by the nature of the client's concerns, their motivation, and level of distress.
Originally from Chicago, Dr. Camp earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Her educational background, combined with her extensive practical experience, enables her to provide high-quality, empathetic care to her clients as they navigate life's challenges and work towards emotional well-being.
