Joanne Luquette
LCMHC, MLADC • Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor
About
Change comes from within, but sometimes we need someone to help us find the light within ourselves. This core belief forms the foundation of Joanne Luquette's therapeutic approach. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and Master Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (MLADC), Joanne brings a wealth of experience and a unique perspective to her practice at Women's Counseling of Nashua.
Joanne's philosophy centers on meeting clients where they are, without forcing a stage of change. She recognizes that personal growth can be uncomfortable, but firmly believes that no growth comes from comfortability. This approach allows her to create a supportive environment where clients feel empowered to explore their inner selves and work towards positive change at their own pace.
With a diverse background in mental health and substance use counseling, Joanne has garnered experience across various settings. Her professional journey includes roles as a Job Specialist, Mental Health Counselor on an In-Patient unit, Psychotherapist, Emergency Services Clinician, and Group Leader for Substance Use Therapy groups. This broad experience equips her with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges her clients may face.
Joanne's educational background is equally impressive. She holds a Master's degree in Community Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder from Southern New Hampshire University. Her academic journey began in criminal justice, but she pivoted to mental health after noticing a disconnect between the justice system and social work. This unique perspective allows her to bring a multifaceted approach to her therapy sessions.
In her most recent roles, Joanne has worked with two mental health agencies, providing both intake services and individual therapy sessions. The majority of her clients have been adults struggling with dual diagnoses of Substance Use and Mental Health disorders. This specialized experience makes her particularly adept at helping individuals navigate the complex interplay between addiction and mental health issues.
Joanne's commitment to her clients is evident in her approach to therapy. She believes that while change can be awkward and uncomfortable, it's a necessary part of the growth process. Her role is to guide clients through this journey, helping them uncover their inner strength and resilience. With Joanne, clients can expect a supportive, non-judgmental environment where they can work through their challenges and move towards a healthier, more fulfilling life.
