Joel Schmidt

Joel Schmidt, MA, LMHC, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in disordered anxiety. He uses mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to address specific fears, panic attacks, excessive worry, and social anxiety.

He founded Float on Counseling in 2017 and expanded it from a solo practice to a group practice. He previously supervised a clinical team at DACCO's Felony Drug Court Program and provided therapy in a residential setting at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, and worked as a therapist at "A Counseling Center" in Melbourne, FL.

His approach is collaborative and solution-focused, working alongside clients to identify problem areas, establish clear goals, and create actionable plans. As a Navy veteran, husband, and dog dad, he often works with entrepreneurs, professionals, students, and recent retirees.
