John Ferraro
LMHCA • Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate
About
Empowering clients to tell their stories and create meaningful change is at the heart of John Ferraro's therapeutic approach. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate, John creates a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where individuals can explore their experiences and work towards personal growth.
John's practice is grounded in a Humanistic theoretical approach, emphasizing the importance of individual choice and autonomy. He skillfully incorporates elements of Feminist, Multicultural, and Narrative therapy, acknowledging the complex interplay between personal experiences and broader societal systems. This integrative approach allows John to address the multifaceted nature of his clients' challenges, helping them connect more fully with their personal values and build a positive sense of self.
With a diverse background that informs his practice, John brings a unique perspective to his work. Originally from New York, he earned his Bachelor's Degree in English Literature from the State University of New York at Geneseo and his Master of Counseling degree from City University of Seattle. His eclectic experiences, including teaching English in South Korea and to adult international students in Seattle, working as a tradesman, and volunteering with indigenous populations and other underserved communities, have enriched his ability to appreciate different perspectives and challenge established narratives.
John specializes in helping clients navigate a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self-concept struggles, and perfectionism. He believes in the power of curiosity and listening, using these skills to help clients reflect on their past experiences and envision where they want to go. By fostering a positive therapeutic relationship built on trust and collaboration, John supports his clients in identifying their goals, recognizing their strengths, and implementing sustainable changes in their lives.
As a therapist committed to ongoing professional development, John practices under the supervision of licensed social worker Alison Prevost. This dedication to growth and learning ensures that his clients receive the most current and effective therapeutic support. Whether you're seeking to overcome personal challenges, explore your identity, or simply gain a deeper understanding of yourself, John Ferraro offers a compassionate and insightful approach to guide you on your journey of self-discovery and growth.
