Julie Christensen
MSW, LCSW • Mental Health Therapist
About
Driven by a passion for helping others from a young age, Julie Christensen, MSW, LCSW, has cultivated a specialized practice focusing on infertility and maternal mental health. Her client-centered approach, combined with extensive experience in diverse mental health settings, makes her a compassionate ally for individuals navigating life's challenges.
Julie's journey in social work began at Brigham Young University, where she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees. After graduating in 2005, she returned to her home state of California to launch her career and obtain her clinical license. Her professional path has been marked by versatility and continuous growth, spanning various settings and populations.
In her early career, Julie worked in a sub-acute facility, assisting clients with mental illness in their transition from locked facilities back into the community. She then expanded her expertise in an outpatient community mental health setting, where she not only provided therapy but also took on a supervisory role. This experience honed her skills in crisis management and hospitalization assessment.
Upon returning to Utah, Julie's career took her to LDS Family Services, where she had the opportunity to work with both individuals and couples. This diverse background has equipped her with a comprehensive toolkit to address a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, co-occurring disorders, low self-worth, grief and loss, trauma, marital challenges, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, and personality disorders.
Julie's therapeutic approach is rooted in evidence-based practices. She employs Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to help her clients achieve their personal goals. While she works with the adult population in general, her specialization in infertility and perinatal mood disorders sets her apart, offering targeted support for those facing the unique challenges of reproductive health and new parenthood.
Outside of her professional life, Julie finds joy in family activities, particularly supporting her two sons in their soccer endeavors. Her love for family game nights, Mexican cuisine, and crime shows adds a relatable touch to her professional persona, highlighting the balance she maintains between her dedicated work as a therapist and her fulfilling personal life.
